Honor 7X with 18:9 display and dual cameras goes official, prices start at $200

As expected, Honor introduced its new mid-range smartphone – Honor 7X. If you've been following our news reports, then you probably know quite a bit about the Honor 7X since information about the device leaked out before the official announcement.

Honor 7X is meant to offer Android fans who can't afford to purchase a flagship smartphone, a solid alternative with few compromises. It's true that the handset does not come with the highest performance components, but it does seem to pack the next best things.

For example, Honor 7X is powered by a Kirin 659 processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and either 32GB, 64GB or 128GB expandable storage. The large 5.93-inch display with 2160 x 1080p pixels resolution is Honor's first smartphone to feature an 18:9 panel. It's also a step up from the predecessor model, which comes with a smaller 5.5-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution.

On the back, the Honor 7X packs a dual-camera setup (16MP + 2MP) and a fingerprint sensor, while in the front there's a secondary 8-megapixel selfie snapper. Moreover, the smartphone features IP67 certification, which means it's water resistant.

Honor 7X is powered by a 3,340 mAh battery and runs Android 7.1 Nougat with EMUI on top, but we suspect the Chinese company will release an Android Oreo update in the not so distant future.

Design-wise, Honor 7X has thin enough bezels and features a metal body that definitely gives it that premium look and feel. The smartphone will be available in three color variants – Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Platinum Gold – starting October 17.

As far as prices go, Honor 7X will cost just $200 (32GB model), but customers can choose to buy the 64GB version for $260 or the 128GB Honor 7X, which is priced to sell for $305. It will first be launched in China, but we're likely to see the Honor 7X in other countries as well, including the United States.
